Rather, he quickly delves into how to `heal" and reclaim the fun loving child present in all of us that became repressed and frozen dealing with painful events in childhood.īradshaw's reference to the inner child in the title of the book sounded corny and touchy feely at first but after a few pages I found the flavor of the book to be actually the opposite. Three cheers for John Bradshaw! A thoroughly enjoyable, helpful, practical, fun and ultimately liberating book for anyone who has unresolved issues with their childhood and who has tried (and failed) to move onward and forward with their lives as an adult.īradshaw doesn't spend a lot of time dwelling on the circumstances that led to feelings of shame or grief from childhood trauma's, although he does a wonderful job of validating how those feelings came to be. Truly helpful and not just another self help psychobabble book
